Our founders story

Morgan Jane founded Blythe Press in 2026. What began with slow negotiations and form rejections, slowly led her to one incredibly daunting revelation:

Traditional Publishing in Australia is NOT accessible to new authors.

Agencies are too specific, their guidelines restrictive, and most aren’t open to emerging writers. Traditional publishing houses don’t accept unsolicited material. Competitions are few and far between, with winners receiving feedback or interim publications rather than permanent guidance into the market.

The door is closed.

With self-publishing becoming a more accessible resource to emerging voices, many new authors are turning to it as their only solution. Morgan underwent a careful study of the process to publication, from understanding the technology behind POD services, to a step-by-step analysis of how a book evolves from its first draft to sitting on a bookshelf. She studied a Bachelor of Communications (Writing and Publishing) in 2021, worked as a freelance editor for Australian businesses and writers, and has since founded one of Australia’s newest Independent Publishing Houses!

“I remember reading an article during my research that said only 0.6% of people who start writing a book see it through to publication. Even with self-publishing as a viable resource, emerging writers rarely take this route because they want the validation of a big publishing house.”

This wasn’t good enough. All those stories, all those voices, yet to be told. To be heard.

Blythe Press was Morgan's answer.

Built on the belief that the right story deserves more than a form rejection, Blythe Press exists to be the door that was never there. We offer debut and emerging authors a genuine path to publication. One that combines the professionalism and standards of traditional publishing with the accessibility that the market has long been missing.

Every title we publish is a story that deserves to be told. Every author we work with is a voice that deserves to be heard.

We are not just a publishing house. We are a way in.

Morgan is also the author of Pawns of the Arcane, a dystopian fantasy thriller, and a title of Blythe Press. Coming 2026.
